Friday, June 28, 2013: The weekend is lookin’ both good and/or iffy. For those hangin’ in our Island hood, the skies have been constantly on the verge of bustin’ loose with T-storms. However, the storm cells seem to be scattered and might hit one part of the Island and not the rest. That storm-watch setup will hold true for the weekend.

Here's a look I cpatured last week:

Winds could play ruiner, especially as the day ages a bit. South winds could crank. Early day should be the quietest. Small craft advisories are in effect for winds and seas. Inlets might be doable but tricky.

When it comes to boat fishing this entire weekend – and into the upcoming holiday week -- it will be a case of keeping an eye on weather radar. Even the smallest vessels have the capacity to see what the Weather Service is seeing. Tune in and learn to read color-coded radar blimps. Important: There is often a lag time between the weather on the radar screen you’re seeing and where the actual weather is hitting. That’s where good old sky-watching is the only way to go. The rule of thumb, make that ear, is when thunder is being heard, the game is on. “Waiting it out” on the water is a role of the dice. Deadly dice, in many instances.
