Sunday, July 28, 2013: Iffy skies out there today and winds could get cranky out of the south. Hopefully, folks cashed in on sunshine and fineness yesterday, though today’s clouds are ideal for “subdued” lighting when fishing shallower areas, including the surf line.
Had some fun fishing small weakies last night. Found a new…

Friday, July 26, 2013: What a day. The land/sea breezes are backing off as the day gets ready to close its doors. These switchable winds are often a good sign for night fishing so I think I’ll give it a go.
Water temps are mid-70s. Water clarity is very good. Swells are sizable but not enough to mess up surfcasting.
Bayside is experiencing runoff freshets. These can confuse fish. The cooler water side of…

July 24, 2013: Nice day. A fair-sized south swell running. Water clarity: Is fair at best. Water temps are right about 70, though warming via light and variable winds, mainly offshore today. Excellent boat fishing conditions. Very large fluke being found in halo area surrounding structure (reefs, etc.)
If you’re lookin’ to fish the LBI suds think small – and numerous. The spot are so thick you can nab double headers on kingfish…

July 19, 2013: Still sizzling but with a decent south wind. With the water is so warm, the breezes are more like a fan than an air conditioner -- which it felt like when the water was 55 degrees and the southerlies blew in.
Clearer water along the beach has put a bit of a hurt on fluking and kingfishing the suds. Boat fluking is picking up, oceanside, as the winds are finally blowing enough to offer a good drift. The bay is finally wind-cooled enough to work without fear of…

Thursday, July 18, 2013:
The ocean is running clean and smooth. The water temp is a sultry 78 degrees. And that was at sunrise, using a high-tech infrared thermometer accurate to one-hundredth of a degree.

Sunday, July 14, 2013: Heat is blowing in out of the west. This coming week will be furnacey, though not far from typical summerishness – nonetheless, I’m sure the global warmists will attribute the heat to planetary doom.
For me, it’s getting through the arriving heat in as hydrated a state as possible. In a recent two-week span, I experienced two crippling dehydrations, thanks to my own over doing…

FLUKE SEASON EXTENSION AND BUGGYING UPDATES:
The announcement of an extended season for fluking was expected after the 2013 Sandy factor was finally factored in by the feds. Here’s an on-scene report from Paul H.
On 7/11/13 the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council voted in favor of extending the recreational summer flounder season by 8 days. The season had been slated to close on 9/16 but will now…

July 10, 2013:
T-storms have been bouncing around. Winds will soon be swinging out of the west. That should bring in warmer beachfront water and also allow for getting out on the ocean to go after blues, triggers, bass and tunas. Please send me any photos or videos so I can put them in here. Lots of folks stopping by.
I got reports of waterspouts over the ocean but I also saw some low scud clouds that were similar looking to funnels but not the same vortex-type things.…

Monday, July 01, 2013: Another aggravatingly uncertain day, sky-wise. The spot showers have increased from yesterday, leaving short breaks for fishing dryly – followed by downpours.
I have an arriving batch of reports of decent surf fluking, despite the riled up waters. I even had a plugger report of two take-home models, one to 22 inches, near a jetty. Small black Bomber. \…
