Saturday, June 30, 2012: Just done our annual July 4th Al Vasys Noninvitational Volleyball Tournament. Great time despite the dehydration factor. By tourney’s end the clouds had edged in and the winds were honking from the south.
While there I got fishing reports, primarily about big…

(ABOVE: FROM JINGLES WESITE – A SHOT-DEAD BEAUTIFUL FLUKE – and don’t give me that ”unfair” crap. You try jumping in the water, diving down, seeking and locating a fish to get a one-time shot at it – as opposed to drifting lazily along in a boat wating for a fish to latch. Yes, I was commercial diver for years on end so I’m a tad prejudice, but, hey,…

Friday, June 22, 2012:
An update of sorts --
Why won’t this storm let us be? Looking at the radar, just to our west are more deep orange and red splotches, headed our way. Oddly, all this stormage has been training north instead of going directly eastward and out to sea. That’s a suckacious set-up, leading to storm cell after storm cell.
There are actually so many things happening in the area I can’t even keep track of all the emergency transmissions…

UPDATE: Between the road flooding and the emergency vehicles, Ship Bottom south is screwed up royally – coming and going. Don’t even add to the mess by trying to get out. Crews are now out on the Causeway placing some better-late-than-never cones.
If you’re north of the Causeway, things are going along smoothly off the Island. Once off, you’re then on your own. At 3:30 things were…

Friday, June 22, 2012: I hope everyone quickly realized this midday thunderboomer was not to be messed with.

June 20, 2012: Well, it hadda come eventually. The soup is being poured upon us, though I already feel a bit of a sea breeze trying to nose in. Midday the beaches are packed to the rafters. There's room to fish near jetties -- in towns where…

The International Seafood Sustainability Foundation (ISSF) has released its position statement in advance of the 83rd Meeting of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) in La Jolla, California next week.
The position includes a call for a reduction in catches for bigeye tuna in the region, which is being overfished. ISSF also advocates for a catch limit, determined by each species stock evaluation and productivity, placed on the…
