The official spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the person was not authorized to speak publicly ahead of Salazar's announcement scheduled for noon (1600 GMT) Wednesday in Boston.

Was on the island today looking at a job for a customer and of course I brought the gear along. I actually fished yesterday in the wind and caught zero. Water looked better today despite the honking south wind, so I gave it a try in the mid-island surf.

It was lock and load fishing from the get go. As soon as my baits hit the bottom, I had a double header of bass, a 38 and a 29"er. I kept the 29 and released the bigger one. I reset and bam, another double…

Thursday, April 08, 2010: I was metal detecting Toms River area yesterday – actually on the bottom of the river, with an underwater detector. I was near a swimming/fishing pier on the south side of the waterway. I was finding loads of coins -- and more castaway fishing sinkers than my goodie bag could hold.…

Hello All,
Hope everyone's enjoying this beautiful weather that seems to be making an appearance just in time for the weekend. Maybe that awful winter is finally behind us and we can get on with the fishing season.
Just a quick update for everyone. There are already mixed sized bluefish and striped bass being caught in the bay, and I'm thinking we may be primed for an excellent spring bay fishery this year. There's no doubt in my mind that these are resident fish that…
