For even the bravest dogs, there something freaky about a moving snowman ... Notice no pitbulls. Snowman said he knew better.

Thursday, February 19, 2015: You might have heard about the proposed hotel coming onto LBI. Above is the look. See story at: http://thesandpaper.villagesoup.com/p/ship-bottom-land-use-board-ok....

I went to the meeting where they OK'ed the project. On FB I noted:

" ... There's a lot to the story, including the fact a rinky-dink Motel-6(66)-type structure can be built there, immediately -- without the builder even needing to go before the planning board. The proposed building is highly classy, includes greenery and out-of-sight parking. Face it, something is going to be built there. The town/county/state can't even remotely afford that property. An everyday, flashing-sign motel would, to me, be an ultimate eyesore. Runoff issues have been heavily studied and plans are for less runoff impact than the current or past usages. If someone wants to buy it and create a maritime forest, I'll support it ... otherwise."

Developer Chris Vernon, who I've known since he was a kid, has absolutely gone out of his LBI-way to create something special in Ship Bottom. Thinking back on the Baldwin and the Engleside hotels, what will look better 20, 30, 40 years down the pike, this dream of Chris's or some scrawny box motel?????

Here's a vid-look you don't see everyday while driving the Holgate tip that ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmLpQEIEf04&feature=youtu.be

How about a NYC ferry being pulled back north after repairs:
