Daily Fishing and Outdoor Report
Sunday, November 28, 2010: I saw a number of boat fishermen at church today and they’re all talking about big time bassing of late. While these blokes were mainly northern end inlet-ers (heading out of BL), there are also decent reports coming off Brant Beach waters and some scattered action off LE Inlet.
Surfcasters picked away at stripers again yesterday. The action was down a bit from Friday but there were still plenty of weighable hookups, though many were non-Classic stripers. Chunks baits and patience are best combo. Late-day flurries are also become par for the late-fall course. I threw Avas and teasers and had one solid swack and not much else. Though I had to zip off for church and such.
I fished Brant Beach from 5:45am-11:00am. Nothing until around 9am when the bite seemed to turn on and lasted until 10-10:30
I caught a 14lb, 33.5" bass on a bunker chunk. I lost 2 blues along with my hooks, then landed a blue 11/9lb, 33.5" on bunker chunk.
Then caught a 15/9lb, 35.5" bass, again on bunker chunk. I saw another larger fish caught south of me, but couldn't tell what it was. Didn't hear/see any other fish caught on that stretch of beach...
Got out Saturday morning and fished the mouth of the BL inlet with spot & mullet on the incoming tide and honking westerly. Only saw one fish taken and it was not on my line. Stuck with it for two hours and then called it a season. I whispered to the spot & mullet that there was nothing to fear as I let them go.
