18th Annual Fluke Tournament

June 9, 2012

Toms River, NJ - April 6, 2012

Jersey Coast Anglers Association (JCAA) will hold its 18th Annual Fluke Tournament on June 9, 2012 and the Awards Ceremony is scheduled for June 15th in Atlantic City. The Grand Prize this year is between $5,000-$10,000* in cash and the first place port prize is still $1,200!

New for 2012 is our Optional Striped Bass Cash Category.  Those who enter our fluke tournament may also enter the striped bass cash category. In this category entrants will be competing only against others who are fishing out of the same port. For this category, JCAA will pay out 60% of the money taken in from each port. The entrant weighing in the heaviest striped bass for each port will receive all the cash paid out for that particular port.  The Striped Bass option is an additional $50 to the Fluke Tournament entry fee.

The tournament fee for early entrants (by June 2nd) is $120. After June 2nd, the tournament fee goes up to $150, so early entry really pays off. We are once again offering on-line registration at the JCAA web site. New this year to the on-line entry is the ability to purchase Tournament T-shirts and hats, as well as Associate Membership.  The Fluke Tournament consistently proves to be a great time and a chance for many fabulous prizes. This tournament supports the work that JCAA does for all recreational anglers. Remember the JCAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to your interest and JCAA is the only salt water fishing advocacy group working exclusively in New Jersey.

This event is actually ten mini-tournaments in one. You compete for over $4,000 in prizes for your port.  The port prizes for fluke are listed as follows:  First place prize of $1,200, plus 9 additional prizes include rods, reels, line, bait, premium sunglasses, quality marine products which will be included in the great port prizes from these sponsors: Penn Reels,  Berkley Gulp Bait, Spiderwire, West Marine, Minn Kota, Nor'East Saltwater , Costa , Interlux Paint and others.  Remember that you only compete against those boats registered in your port for these port prizes.  All prizes will be awarded for the heaviest fish weighed in at your port. You do not have to be present at the award ceremony in Atlantic City to win the port prizes.

The Grand Prize ,between $5,000-10,000*, and all door prizes will be drawn at the Awards Presentation and Celebration at the Golden Nugget Atlantic City. Entrants do not have to catch a fish to be eligible for the Grand Prize or any door prizes, but need only to be registered. At least one member of the entrant's crew must be present in order to win the Grand Prize and door prizes. If you have questions call 732-506-6565or visit the web site at www.jcaa.org for additional information, t-shirt order forms with a color rendition for the 18th annual t-shirt artwork, complete rules, links to sponsors, and additional entry forms for your friends.
This is the ninth year we have conducted a survey of angling success vs. effort.  Don't forget to take the survey out with you on your trip and record your catch.   You can also complete your survey online by clicking here.  The data from this survey gives a one-day snap shot of the number of fluke caught in New Jersey and will serve to confirm the results of the NMFS surveys.   Those who complete the survey will be entered in a special drawing for a free entry into next year's tournament.  You should also get into the habit of entering your success or lack thereof into the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Website.

*Depending on the number of entries over 500
