Daily Fishing and Outdoor Report
Saturday, December 29, 2012: Junk weather and junk computer times for me. I’m huddling inside the LBI library trying to tap into their Wi-Fi. My office and home internet capacities are in the crapper. If it ain’t one thing it’s a dozen or so.
I had some distant notions of doing a bit of stripering today, regardless of the skies. However, I just can’t…Continue

Wednesday, December 26, 2012: Now what?
I get a spurt of time off and the skies decide to become seriously unsavory.
I had mentioned last week that this week would be all over the weather board, and, sure enough, we’re about to be checkerboarded with a nice day,…Continue

Sunday, December 23, 2012: Trying my hardest to get into both the Christmas and vacation spirit. Maybe not trying hard enough. It just doesn't feel all that holidayish out there just yet, even though the calendar guarantees the date is correct.…Continue

Above: No, this isn't trick photography or Photoshop. It's an actual type of whale. Talk about a possible source of sea serpent sagas.

Friday, December 21, 2012: That was some blow last night. In fact, it blew a big headache my way (see below).
The winds have swung around to the west, wickedly. The bayside floodwaters will be blown out to sea in nothing flat. I’m still predicting major blowout tides. That’s factoring in not…Continue

The IGFA has officially approved the record application for the 193.68 kg (427 lb) yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) caught by Guy Yocom on September 28, 2012 while fishing aboard his boat, El Suertudo (“The Lucky One”). The boat was captained by Greg DiStefano, who put Yocom on the fish approximately 100 miles off the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Yocom and another angler were chunking to a school of…

Wednesday, December 19, 2012: Feels like a slight touch of fall in the air. Face it, our winter weather – which began, meteorologically, on Dec. 1 -- is getting weird again, vis-à-vis last winter.
Hope you didn’t take any bets on it being a white Christmas. Maybe up New England way.
We’re in a jet stream pattern that will direct the coldest air…Continue

Monday, December 17, 2012: Thanks for the reports. Seems some folks are really having a ball with schoolie bass, weather permitting. Bets hooking is bait-based, though boat anglers are jigging and even trolling a bit.
One boat angler had a “typical” tale. He got out and damn if he didn’t…Continue

Saturday, December 15, 2012: Looks like were drifting into another rain period, albeit with mild temperatures. A slew of northern storms, training along the US/Canada border, will either drop toward us or drag tailing warm fronts over the region. That warm front thing always means…Continue

SpaceWeather.com is reporting that international observers are counting as many as 50 meteors per hour as Earth plunges into a stream of debris from rock comet 3200 Phaethon. Sunday, December 09, 2012: Sorry I was away. Had some big-time commitments. Want to throw a “Hey” out to the super-fine folks I worked with, up from Ft. Bragg. Please stay in touch – even from afar. I know you’ll be checking in here.
GOOD SKIES FALLING: All I had to do was write (a couple blogs back) about how nice the weather has been to bring on the…Continue

Despite a horrific Sandy hit to my already anemic wallet, I’m putting web donations into their own little fiscal folder,…Continue
