Thurs. Feb 25, 10 -- Serious whip-age out there

Thursday, February 25, 2010: Now these are some winds. I’m thankin’ the lucky snow-covered stars they’re out of the west. The snow (11 pm) is nothing special (a few inches) but it’s traveling perfectly parallel to the ground, pushing well past 50 mph. Had the winds been NE or even east things would be epically ugly. Beware of bass bricks being thrown

[The Capital] By Chris Dollar - February 22, 2010 OUTDOORS Members of the federal fisheries board who voted to consider increasing the coastal commercial striped bass harvest had to know they'd just thrown a brick at a hornet's nest.

At its winter meeting the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Striped Bass Management Board approved an addendum that could give commercial fishers a larger quota, igniting an impassioned debate.

It's not surprising that…

Update 2 p.m. : We’re now slowly approaching historic territory – snow-wise. The sheer coverage of this storm is through the ceiling – hopefully only speaking hypothetically. Whereas the last biggy we had right before Christmas -- a 15- to 20-incher -- became a drift event. Snow was blown off objects and to the ground. Not this brute. Despite howling winds, this snowfall is…

Feb. 3, 2010 -- Weekly blog and scary forecast

Further below is a chunk of my weekly column. I excluded parts that are repeats from this website.

I’m also including (first) a read from a weather aficionado, forwarded to me. It’s more or less hypes the storm potential for this coming weekend. In fact, his forecast should have us all but running for cover. HOWEVER, this email is also an example of the way weather folks have fun with the skies, offering each other some of the more tangent forecasts potentials.

I see just where this… Continue
