Hey, not all rescue dogs come fully equipped.
Thursday, October 30, 2014: The bassing is slowly coming to life. This a.m. found small to medium stripers near frontbeach jetties, mainly 26- to…Continue

Walking the cat for some relaxation ....
Afternoon update: Lots of casts and very few hits -- and no fish landed, though I fought two small bass in Holgate. I saw a couple small bass taken on artificials and was told about couple more caught out of a Holgate slew.
Winds swung offshore and temps…Continue
Long day ahead ... chai tea do your stuff
Tuesday, October 28, 2014: Late yesterday in Holgate, I continued my uncanny hooking ways, providing you rate the nonstop catching of half-pound bluefish as being angling acknowledgeable. I threw…Continue

Well, I got off the striper snide in a big way today. Not big as in large but big as…Continue

"Make way ... Comin' through ... Mad dog ... !!!"
Friday, October 24, 2014: Winds are westerly, skies are dry and I'm heading out for a lengthy fishing session ... with some clamming thrown in for good measure. I might be getting back in here later. …Continue

That kinda day ...
Thursday, October 23, 2014: It’s still spitty out there – and occasionally replacing the “p” with an “h.”
I’m still a blatant “half full” type but I’m watching fall drain down the toilet.…Continue

(Above: Look familiar??? A bit vintage.)
Wednesday, October 22, 2014: Not that you haven’t noticed but it’s frickin’ honkin’ out there. If you’re inland, you might not be feeling it as much but here in my Surf City office, the whole building is swaying, which is a sure sign of gusts over 35 mph, in this case out of the north. However, there…Continue

Some a-hole named David Hurley has snuck into this site. Ignore anything the numbnuts sends. He has been eliminated as a site member but may have sent off s*** before I axed him.Continue

Tuesday, October 21, 2014: Wicked work day, helped dramatically by quick trips to the beach to view some of the coolest over-ocean cloud formations I’ve seen in many moons.
Quick vid look: …Continue

Monday, October 20, 2014: I’ve got a fractured work day goin’. I came in early so I could do a mid-afternoon bug-out before returning for the night shift.
By the by, that bug-out expression has its roots way further back than the term now used to mean a well-planned escape from a mushrooming apocalypse. You likely know that TV programs on doomsdayers, like “Doomsday Preppers” and “Doomsday Bunkers,” call the…Continue

Sunday, October 19, 2014: October 19th and I finally get to say those traditional autumnal words, “There’s a change in the air.” It’s blowin’ one good out of the west and there is an ever-so-slight nip in the air. Not really cold, though tonight will give the nostrils a flare – and a sense…Continue

Eagle in Holgate today. See below:
Back to beach ... check back later.
Saturday, October 18, 2014: The west winds have finally come with some authority but the ocean is big (surf) and off-color. I plugged to the hilt and didn’t even get anything small.…Continue

Late-day note: The stupid winds came full-ass out of the south throughout the second half of today. That was fully unexpected. It just added more chop and roil to the surfline -- instead of allowing westerlies to clean things up.
Below is a poorish video (alos wind noise) of the first larger pod of dolphin to arrive in Holgate. No sane bluefish would hang around, thus I caught none this day. I…Continue

Wednesday, October 15, 2014: Waitin’ on the rain. Very low fishing pressure.
Did some Holgate and BH plugging this a.m. to totally no avail. The winds are straight off the ocean and oddly mild. The ocean is quite clean, despite the inshore flow. Winds have not been…Continue

Yep, that's a "Cat 4" you see mixed in there. Note: Hurricane Gonzalo will likely stay stronger further north than shown here.
Tuesday, October 14, 2014: Gorgeous day and I was dead in the water – as in, stuck in my office, sure to be over 12 hours straight. But another kick-ass SandPaper is soon to be…Continue

Monday, October 13, 2014: When I’m office-bound, I sure don’t mind spitting days like today. It’s infinitely better than having to look out on a happy shining fall fishing day while hovering near an insatiable keyboard.…Continue
