It’s time for my annual begging session, seeking donations to show support for this site. While I don’t use donations as an indicator of reader appreciation, I sure use the donations to cover the site’s sundry expenses. I…Continue

Jay, you sound a little bitter.
That's not how I picture you after being around you on the beach and reading your line for many years.(I am a tourist by the way)
Really, I know you and the other islanders should get a pass after all you've been through this year.
Anywho, what the hell is going on with Holgate?
Why in the world would the Feds close it? They don't patrol it or repair it anymore.
Please tell me it'll be open soon.

Sunday, October 06, 2013: I really don’t know what was worse, the west winds blowing in millions of black flies last week or today’s chowder winds blowing in millions of post-season tourists -- the most uppity kind known.
I’m just riled since the tourists won the day, hands down. There wasn’t a prayer of my safely or peacefully driving the beach to look for bait or fishing. There were sections of LBI that had beaches crowded to summer…Continue

Check out this video to get a look at the fog -- and stuff. Never know what you'll find in the mist.

Thursday, October 03, 2013: Hopefully there’ll be a lower biting fly count today -- though, at sunrise, I couldn’t believe my truck already had a flock of them gathering on its sides as I plugged Brant Beach. And, yes, I had no success – as if that was what I was striving for. I’m at over 100 casts with a gone swack at dark last night on a Danny. Speaking of which, Danny plugs remain the best rough water plugs made. They lose a lot when the water…Continue

Here's an unexciting look at Brant Beach today. Sand is VERY loose.
Read below after the YouTube cruise.
Tuesday, October 01, 2013: Beach Buggy Banter.
I drove the front beach from Brant Beach down to south of Nebraska and it was a breeze; plenty of beach, except for one skinny spot – and even that was easy to get by. In fact,…Continue
Tuesday, October 01, 2013: Those stinkin’ honkin’ northeast winds have finally breathed their last gasp, having done a goodly amount of beachfront sand damage in many areas, not just Holgate.
Since the front beaches are now open to buggying (HC, SC, SB, LBT and BH), we have to keep a close watch over all the Island’s…Continue
